Co-founded Mitra Mela and Abhinav Bharat with his brother Vinayak; attended the 1907 Surat Congress session and met Aurobindo Ghosh and the Bengal Anushilan Samiti; recruited V.O. Chidambaram Pillai to the network; printed and helped smuggle Vinayak's 1857 book.

Built and led the Nashik revolutionary network; his arrest and public humiliation by district collector Arthur Jackson led directly to Jackson's assassination; founding member of the RSS, present at its 27 September 1925 founding ceremony in Nagpur alongside Hedgewar and Dr B.S. Moonje, and reportedly asked by Hedgewar to design the RSS's saffron flag and pledge; later acted as the bridge between the Hindu Mahasabha and RSS organisers in Delhi and Benares; personally organised physical training for Shivaram Rajguru (who then trained further at RSS headquarters in Nagpur before joining Bhagat Singh's HSRA); maintained a direct personal relationship with Chandrashekhar Azad through an intermediary, Shriram Balwant Savargaonkar, who smuggled revolvers to Azad and was inducted into his network under the pseudonym 'Engineer'; met Azad in person at Kashi on 25 February 1931, two days before Azad's death at Alfred Park; his Bombay house in Khar served as an HSRA safe house where Durga Devi Vohra ('Durga Bhabhi') stayed with her young son.
After the movement
Convicted and sent to the Cellular Jail; released and remained active in Hindu Mahasabha/RSS organising through the 1930s, including a 1933 arrest and brief imprisonment on suspicion of bomb-related activity; died 1945.
